Permanent "Your Notification" Status

Why have I shown for the past week 1 "Your Notification" of a private email when no private email exists to open and make that notification disappear?

Similar thing here - down at the bottom of my inbox was an unopenable message dated 1970-1-1 which I deleted, thus removing the 'Your Notifications: 1', er, notification.

A couple of days ago, a user's account here got hacked. The hacker went and sent out about 1000 spam PMs. The only way I could quickly deal with this was to ban the user and then delete all the PMs via the database. That has left the Notification.

To get rid of it, send yourself a PM. That will force the software to 'recount' your PMs and should eliminate the Notification.

didn't work for me. I have received several PM's, including the one sent myslef to myself, all opened, but the "1" notification still remains.

I have no idea why it is happening now. I have deleted no PMs due to spam. Are you seeing nothing highlighted in the notifications drop down at all?

Mine is normal, no spam, no e-mails . . . don't know what the difference could be? . . . Social Media? . . . Twitter, Facebook, ect, . . .

There is no unread private email.
