View Full Version : Should I save MP3 files in source folder?

Hello all, I've got a question regarding MP3 files. I've been converting FLAC files to MP3 files and saving them in the source folder. My question is will the MP3 files be included as I seed the torrent? Should I save the MP3 files in another folder? Let me know if any of this makes sense.

If you're perverting - I mean converting mp3 files of stuff you've already downloaded from someone else on a torrent that you're still seeding, you're pretty much ok to keep seeding as long as none of the original files in the folder have been disturbed. Only the files that are encoded in the .torrent file will be seeded... But, wouldn't it be confusing having two versions of every track in the same folder?

Now, if it's something that you're going to upload from scratch, you'd want to NOT include the eMPty3 files in the .torrent file! Keep that away!!!

My advice:
I think you're better off putting the lossy files into their own folder that you make and name like the original FLAC folder but with "eMPty3 files delete me later" at the end of the name of the new folder... Use them as you need to, and then trash them before they spread like the disease they are! hahaha
Keeping them in their own folder keeps the original torrent completely "pure" -just in case - and then lets you drag and drop the lossy version to your lossy portable device without carrying the big brother FLAC files along for the ride...
Basically, save them in their own folder.
